Docs

Publish a file agents can trust.

Generate

  1. Open the generator.
  2. Paste the canonical origin, usually the https homepage.
  3. Leave “Read homepage” on for a first draft. Turn it off if you only want a skeleton.
  4. Copy or download.

Edit before you ship

Deploy

Upload llms.txt to the web root. On Nginx:

location = /llms.txt {
  default_type text/plain;
  add_header Cache-Control "public, max-age=3600";
}

On static hosts (Netlify, Cloudflare Pages, S3), a file named llms.txt in the publish directory is enough.

Markdown twins

The spec suggests offering markdown copies of important pages. Link them from llms.txt when you have them. A full bundle is sometimes published as llms-full.txt; that is a convention used by docs sites, not a required second file.

Check

The generator’s pills cover the basic shape. Also open the file in a browser and confirm it is not rewritten as HTML by your host.
